Gustavo Auday is a National Double Bass Teacher and had his degree
at the Carlos López Buchardo National Conservatory of Music,
Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is also a member of the Bahía
Blanca Symphonic Orchestra and a teacher of double bass at the Bahía
Blanca Conservatory of Music. He is an active member of many different
musical groups, performing chamber music and others genres such
as tango, jazz, Latin American folklore, fusion, etc.
His passion for this noble instrument and the difficulty obtaining
quality instruments, made him take a deep interest in restoring
and building double basses, devoting a lot of time and effort to
this activity ever since. Regarding sound quality and esthetic,
he has always taken the greatest Italian master craftsmen as a frame
of reference.
Over and over, history shows how luthier and musician combine their
knowledge in order to deeply penetrate the mysteries of timber.
In our case, this union is not necessary, for luthier and musician
are the same person. This fact makes a big difference when it comes
to instrument making and its set-up.
